A jon boat is possibly one of the easiest boats to build due to its flat bottom and even sides. the hull is sturdy and provides very steady buoyancy. jon boats are not the best suited vessels for rough seas or choppy lakes.. Many fishermen like to make a casting deck so that they can move around unrestricted and fish more water in a shorter amount of time. removing the front two seats in a jon boat is a necessity if you would like to make a casting deck.. Your jon boat gets you out into the waters where bass and crappie wait for your line and lure. after a few hours of casting from the thwarts or hard seats, you may be wishing you had a better platform to cast and fish from. with a few modifications you can build a casting and fishing deck on your jon boat..
