I am in the process of starting a wood boat project,and would like to know if anyone has ever used 5200 for constructing a boat out of cypress wood.?this boat will be lapstrake on oak frames...thanks for any help...i always used welwood resorcinol glue on plywood in the past.. Re: the glue most use in wood boat building i chose resorcinol for critical structural joints (below waterline) with the reasoning that it is the standard adhesive for like joints on aircraft. less critical, above waterline, i relied on pl premium.. These glues are good for gluing plywood underlayment to house framing, and some will do that to frozen and wet wood! very good for gluing house framing to cement, ceramics, glass, metals and painted surfaces. great stuff, but not for structurally important joints in a wooden boat.. A subdivision of the sheet plywood boat building method is known as the stitch-and-glue method, where pre-shaped panels of plywood are drawn together then edge glued and reinforced with fibreglass without the use of a frame..
